Twitter For Beginners - A Video Tutorial

I made a promise on Techlandia a while back that I kept.....

Getting on to Twitter has changed the course of my teaching career.  I went from ignorance, to lurking, to participating.  I now, VERY occasionally, get asked to keynote conferences and speak at them all the time.  It is basically due to the fact that I got on to Twitter...didn't give up right away, and saw the value of what people were sharing.  The one person that I watched closely was Steven Anderson, @web20classroom.  I watched what his conversations were and who he was talking with.  I followed those people, and quickly became well informed on the world of #edtech.  I remember sitting in a Twitter session at the 2010 ISTE conference in Denver.  Steven Anderson walked in and sat down a few rows ahead of me.  I remember walking up to him and thanking him for making Twitter a tool that I could understand and leverage for the benefit of my students.  I thanked him again when I saw him next at the 2013 FETC conference in Orlando.  I will never be able to thank him enough, but I vowed to try.....

My promise on Techlandia was that I would Google Hangout with anyone who wanted to get on Twitter.  I would screenshare, help them out however I could to get more people on to "The Twitters."  So below I share the roughly 20 minute video of me talking with some teachers in NY the next day.  I will also embed a couple of my get started lists of people to follow on Twitter.  Click on the list title to see all members.  Follow some of those great educators and lurk for a while.  When you feel ready....jump on in to the conversation!  We are stronger together!
